Katy Perry beams with pride as she stands out in bright green dress while receiving ceremonial key to Las Vegas Strip

Global pop star Katy Perry couldn't contain her smile as she received a ceremonial key to the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada on Wednesday afternoon.

As she received the honor as well as proclamation of June 8 as Katy Perry Day in Clark County, the Firework hitmaker, 37, wore a figure-hugging lime green dress and matching open-toed heels.

An honor: Pop star Katy Perry couldn't contain her smile as she received a ceremonial key to the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada on Wednesday afternoon

While posing for photos, she held the massive key above her head, after speaking about her love for the city and her family roots there.

'It feels so natural to be here. My aunt was a showgirl here, my grandma was a seamstress here, my dad grew up here he ended up being a chauffeur here, my parents here, they got married here, so it's only natural that I would be on the stage here eventually,' Perry gushed during the ceremony.

She marveled: 'I did not know or think that I would be getting a key to the Strip!'

Big day: As she received the honor as well as proclamation of June 8 as Katy Perry Day at the Resorts World Las Vegas, the 37-year-old singer wore a figure-hugging lime green dress and matching open-toed heels

Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom, Resorts World Las Vegas President Scott Sibella, and the Senior Vice President of Concerts West/AEG Presents John Nelson presented her with the key.

Her fiance Orlando Bloom and their one-year-old daughter Daisy Dove did not appear to be at the ceremony, but he was spotted having dinner with some friends at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica that evening.

The news comes after Perry added 16 more concert dates to her popular Play Las Vegas residency in January and, again, last week for additional dates in June.

Grateful: While posing for photos, she held the massive key above her head, after speaking about her love for the city and her family roots there 'It feels so natural to be here. Alongside her Instagram post she wrote: 'It was the HIGHLIGHT of my day yesterday receiving the to the strip it’s been so fun getting to PLAY in Vegas and I’ve felt so welcomed by the community idk what doors this opens but I might try to crash some hotel rooms now'

The additional shows come 'thx to popular demand', according to a tweet, by the 13-time Grammy nominee.

The added 16 dates will mean huge earnings for the California Gurls singer who was already set to pocket $168 million for the initial 32 performance run.

Katy and her team also spared no expense on the over-the-top Perry Playland set and whimsical costumes.

In total the star dons eight different looks for the show, also including an eye-catching white mini dress a pink PVC dress with a toadstool-inspired hat, before changing into a pink Cleopatra-style gown as she emerged from a keyhole.

Moving forward, June 8 will be Katy Perry Day in Clark County

Given the impact of the recent Covid pandemic, it was no surprise that Katy alluded to the virus with several oversized props, including a huge mask, and toilet rolls, to reference panic-buying of the essential at the start of the crisis last year.

Katy's sets were described as nothing short of spectacular, comprising a keyhole, ducks, a life-size face mask - and the neon toilet which the Californian-born jumped out of.

As the Teenage Dream star's Sin City presence grows in Sin City, Adele's appears to be waning before it even began.

Only Katy: Her zany show see's the mother of one emerge from a giant toilet and converse with a talking COVID mask, with critics lauding the show as both 'poignant' and 'whimsical, and psychedelic' (pictured in December 2021)
