Although the 1990’s don’t seem so far away, it’s already been over 30 years since the decade that brought us CDs, VHS tapes, and cordless phones. Who would have known that the elusive “Internet” that was introduced to us back then would become a pillar of our daily lives. Seinfeld and Friends graced our TVs, grunge music was all the rage, and we saw a new slew of stars rise to fame. Have you ever wondered what ever happened to these celebrities that used to grace the covers of magazines? Here’s what these 90’s stars have been up to lately.
Tiffani Thiessen – Then
Tiffani Thiessen became a teen heartthrob when she starred on the TV show Saved By The Bell as Kelly Kapowski. She then starred as Valerie Malone on Beverly Hill, 90210.
Tiffani Thiessen – Now
Thiessen never stayed away from an acting career, and has recently starred in supporting roles on shows like Fastlane, What About Brian, and White Collar. She also appeared in two season on Netflix original sitcom show Alexa & Katie.
Elizabeth Hurley – Then
Elizabeth Hurley began her career as an Estee Lauder spokeswoman and really came into prominence when she was linked to Hugh Grant. She shot to fame and starred in massively successful films like Austin Powers and Bedazzled.

Hurley and Hugh Grant have since split up and she has not appeared in major films recently. However, she has since had an arc on Gossip Girl and stars in a lead role on The Royals. She is also still modeling.
Erika Eleniak – Then
Erika Eleniak first rose to prominence asa child actor with a small role on the massive hit film E.T. She later became a model and was the July 1989 Playboy centerfold model. That’s when she landed a role on Baywatch, which escalated her to fame.

Eleniak played the role of Shauni McClain on Baywatch from 1989 until 1992. She later started in films like Under Siege and Chasers. Recently, she has starred in films that have become direct to TV.
Debbe Dunning – Then
Debbe Dunning is best known for playing Heidi Keppert, the “Tool Time” girl on sitcom Home Improvement. Although you could argue that Pamela Anderson was eventually the most famous “Tool Girl,” Dunning did star in this role from 1993 through 1999.

As of now, Dunning’s role on Home Improvement is still her best known. Despite this, she has still continued to appear in supporting roles in many shows throughout the years. Her films and TV shows credits span from 1988 through 2006.
Brandy Norwood – Then
Brandy Norwood is best known by just her first name and was one of the biggest stars of the 90’s. She released an album i n1993 that ended up selling over 6 million copies worldwide. She also starred as the title character of successful sitcom Moesha.
Brandy Norwood – Now
Brandy continued releasing more music in the 90’s and early 2000’s, but she then went into a brief hiatus. She later released an album in 2012 that did not perform very well. Her latest album was released in June 2020, we hope that it will be a more successful one for her.
Sarah Michelle Gellar – Then
In the 90’s, it was impossible to talk about celebrities without mentioning Sarah Michelle Gellar, who graced our screens as Buffy in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She had already earned a Daytime Emmy Award for her role on All My Children before her Buffy fame.
Sarah Michelle Gellar – Now
Once Buffy the Vampire Slayer concluded in 2003, Gellar’s career definitely slowed down. She appeared in several films throughout the 2000’s, including as Daphne Blake in the live action version of Scooby-Doo. She has since ventured out to opening her business Foodstirs, which creates meal kits for kids.

Christina Applegate became many a boy’s crush when she starred in sitcom Married…With Children as Kelly Bundy. She later starred as Veronica Corningstone in the hit film Anchorman, starring Will Ferrell.

Applegate later appeared in a recurring role as Rachel’s sister, Amy Green, on hit sitcom Friends. She later landed the starring role in sitcom Samantha Who? She appeared in films like Bad Moms, Hall Pass, and the Anchorman sequel.

At 7 years old, Alyssa Milano began her acting career. She became famous for appearing as Tony Danza’s character’s daughter on popular sitcom Who’s The Boss? She later starred in TV show Charmed from 1998 until 2006.

These days, Milano still appears in acting roles, but she also spends a lot of her time as an activist. She spends a majority of her time helping causes that she deeply cares about. During the coronavirus pandemic, Milano contracted COVID-19 but has since recovered.
Jennifer Love Hewitt – Then
Jennifer Love Hewitt began her career on the Disney Channel. She first appeared in commercials before landing a role on the channel’s show Kids Incorporated. She later appeared in Party of Five, which helped her gain recognition. She was a star after appearing in I Know What You Did Last Summer.

Ever since the 90’s, Jennifer Love Hewitt has had steady appearances in films and TV shows. She starred in films Tropic Thunder, Garfield, and Heartbreakers. She starred in TV shows such as Ghost Whisperer, The Client List, and 9-1-1.
Lori Loughlin – Then
Lori Loughlin became a household name when she appeared as the lovable Aunt Becky on Full House, the hit family sitcom that also helped launch the careers of the Olsen Twins, John Stamos, and Bob Saget.
Lori Loughlin – Now
Loughlin later went on to star in 90201, the reboot of the original TV show. She also reprised her role as Aunt Becky in Fuller House, the Netflix reboot of the original, and starred in Hallmark Channel show When Calls the Heart. When it came out that she was involved in the nationwide college entrance scandal, she lost all of her roles and faces prison time.
Fran Drescher – Then
Fran Drescher first captured people’s hearts when she appeared on The Nanny as Fran Fine. She also had small movie roles in successful films like Saturday Night Fever and This Is Spinal Tap.

After she shot to fame with her role on The Nanny, she continued to play similar roles later in her career on sitcoms like Living with Fran and Happily Divorced. She has also had Broadway roles and a voice role in the Hotel Transylvania animated film franchise.
Heather Locklear – Then
Heather Locklear began to book modeling and commerical acting work while she was a college student at UCLA. She then landed a series regular role on TV show T.J. Hooker. She became widely known after appearing in the 90’s shows Melrose Place and Spin City.

Her role on Spin City won her two Golden Globe nominations. In 2002, the show was cancelled, leading Locklear’s into a slower pace. She has since appeared in supporting roles in shows like Hot in Cleveland and Frankling & Bash.
Eliza Dushku – Then
Eliza Dushku first rose to prominence in the 90’s when she starred in hit show Buffy the Vampire Slayer and eventually continued the same role in spinoff show Angel. She also is known for her role in the cheerleading film Bring It On.

Although she was very active in the 90’s, in the years since her acting career has slowed down a bit. She has had several supporting roles throughout the years, and she has also contributed voice roles to video games such as Fight Night Champion and Saints Row 2.
Melissa Joan Hart – Then
Melissa Joan Hart is best known for playing the main character in two successful children’s TV shows: Clarissa Explains It All and Sabrina the Teenage Witch. She was certainly one of the biggest teen stars in the 90’s.

Since then, Hart has appeared alongside fellow teen heartthrob Joey Lawrence on sitcom Melissa & Joey that lasted from 2010 until 2015. Most recently she has starred in Netflix comedy show No Good Nick.
